Vesper Musicales  2011 – 2012

Fred Miller

Sunday, October 30 @ 4:00 p.m.

Lectures-In-Song: “Sentimental Journey”

Pianist/Singer/Narrator Fred Miller will present his musical and anecdotal overview of the WWII Big Band years (1938-45). Each of Fred’s Lectures-In-Song is 60-75 minutes long and focuses on a great personality or significant aspect of American Popular Song’s Golden Age. Seated at the piano, Fred not only performs the songs in question but also provides biographical and historical insight into the life and times of these musical titans.

“It is apparent he not only loves, but better, understands the music that he’s chosen to present here. His piano work is flawless and would surely stand on its own as an evening’s entertainment. Enthusiasm is a highly overused word, but in this case it’s appropriate. Each song is presented simply, directly, honestly, and with great elan.”
