Sue Porter
Sue Porter is a United Methodist missionary with the Board of Global Ministries, serving as Director of the Ganta Medical Complex in Ganta, Liberia.
BUMC participates in overseas missions through our “shared ministries” (formerly apportionment) contribution to the greater UMC. Through shared ministries, thousands of churches are connected in ministry that is local, regional, and global. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is one of the organizations that receive our funds, which allows them to respond to disasters any where in the world. UMCOR was a major responder to the Hurricane Katrina disaster in the Gulf.
In addition, BUMC has supported Sue Porter, a medical missionary, to Liberia, Africa. Sue visited our church in 2009 to update us on the Ganta United Methodist Mission Station. After a more than decade long civil war, her medical facility is beginning to rebuild and expand. As director, she is currently raising funds to repair student housing at the Winifred J. Harley College of Health Sciences. (You may view a slide presentation of the project here….not needed if you past the pictures into the page.)
If you would like to contribute to Sue Porter’s rehabilitation project, you may send your check to BUMC with the notation “Advance # 302119″. You may also support Sue’s general mission at Ganta by sending a check with the notation “Sue Porter”. 100% of the money received through the Advance will go directly to support the mission project you donate to.
